Chainsaw massacre

Princes Street gardens this morning and a major attack on a tree. This wasn't a wee tidy up, it's a removal and this was the start of it. I'm not sure what type of tree it is, possibly an Elm, but judging by the size of it it's been there a very long time.

There were a team of men working on this but this chap was the only one in the tree taking down the side branches which were then run through an industrial size wood chipper machine. None of the men were dressed as lumberjacks - a big disappointment. I went back at lunchtime and he was still in the tree cutting away. You can see the progress he had made here.

I'll need to go back tomorrow and see what's left - if anything.
