Saigon Cooking Class.
I love going to cookery classes and this one was excellent.
We met the chef at the Ben Thanh wet market and he gave us a tour and explanation of all the weird and wonderful things that were on display. He bought all the vegetable and herbs and then we headed off in a minibus to the cook school.
We made;
Mustard leaf rolls with crunchy vegetables and prawns. Kumquat sweet and sour dipping sauce. ( Cuon Diep Hoa Tuc) Delicious!
Sticky rice fritter stuffed with pork and carrot with soya sauce. Deep fried (Xoi nhon thit chien) Stodgy :((
Fresh rice noodles, with marinated BBQ pork, raw vegetables and fresh herbs. Kumquat and Nuoc Mam dressing.( Bun thit nuong) Delicious!
The picture shows a little dinky clay BBQ. It was really efficient so we headed off to the market again after the class to buy one......
100 VND .....less than £3, a bargain!
