MR. 'IN CHARGE'!

First of all, I’m happy to report that I didn’t see any sign of the hawks today – and at least the cardinals were back at the feeder.

I was trimming more bushes this afternoon when Mr. Cardinal came along - scolding me for being in his yard. He went from tree to tree, chattering up a storm. I was practically underneath him for this shot, but mostly I couldn’t follow him fast enough to zero in for a picture. After a few minutes of the scolding he was gone – I was sorry to see him go because I wanted more chances for a picture, but finishing the trimming was my priority at that time. Suddenly – wonder of wonders – he returned. He flew down to the feeder and happily sat there eating away even with me working in the yard not far from him. It was a great feeling to think he finally decided we could co-exist, that maybe I wasn’t so scary afterall! If they ever figure out just who fills those feeders, they’ll want to sit on my shoulder!
