The Derwent

This is the river Derwent in Bakewell, Derbyshire, with its motley assortment of waterfowl and black-headed gulls.
The river is high and in spate after recent heavy rain, but not yet at flood level.
In the background is the old "packhorse" bridge over the river that carries the main road towards Sheffield.
We had an enjoyable day out here but were really wet as we headed back to the car park and home, having been caught in a torrential downpour.
