Lacecap

Today's the day ........................... to change colour

Incredibly these lacecap hydrangeas are still in flower at this late stage in the year. If they were growing in my garden though - they wouldn't be this lovely blue - they would be pink.

Generally, an acidic soil with a low pH will induce 'blueness' and an alkaline soil with a high pH will induce 'pinkness or redness' - although it also seems to have something to do with the amount of aluminium that is there. Apparently, it's much easier to change a hydrangea from pink to blue than it is from blue to pink.

Might just have a go at that next year ...........................
