Today I decided to take my nephew from Manchester,on a trek into the Cotswolds.
In fact to my favourite spot spot @ Lansdown in the Cotswolds. It lies just North of Bath and East of where I live.
More History folks! On this site was fought a great battle between the Royalists and the Parliamentarian army of Oliver Cromwell. Many thousands of commoners were killed ,fighting with pitch forks and wooden farm implements against the armoured Cavalry with their steel swords and the Kings Archers.
A monument was built in memory of the battle, naming the Lord of the manor who led them and not a single name of the fallen. Just like any other war I suppose?
