Bringing in the Harvest

Another autumnal farming picture today. On my drive home yesterday I had seen a potato harvester parked in a field because it was probably too wet from the rain on the day before, but I thought that it might be working today as it's been fine, dry and breezy again today. So I took the same route home again today, and was greeted with this view of the potato harvest. While the lighting wasn't as good as the day before, I took the opportunity to blip this.

To me this sums up a typical autumn day and it reminds me of when I was still at school and I used to help on a local farm where my Uncle worked during the potato harvest. It involved me standing on a platform at the back of the harvester picking off stones, rotten potatoes and the odd mouse before the potatoes were loaded into the trailer. I did this every weekend and during the October half term every year that I was at high school. I eventually graduated to driving the tractor pulling the trailers which was really good fun.

Ah them were't days!
