Get Fit

Today I went out for a 15 mile cycle ride along part of the National Cycle Route no. 4 which runs locally, along the Church Village Bypass. It was the first time that I clipped in properly to my pedals on my my new bike and before long I was getting the knack, that was until I had nearly come to the end of the cycle path! I had managed to clip in and out without any problems along the route but for some reason, at this point, I didn't get my left foot unclipped in time to stop for a couple of cars before crossing the road. I subsequently and unceremoniously fell off still attached to the bike!!! It wouldn't have been so bad if there hadn't been any witnesses but unfortunately the couple of said cars were in full view of my mishap!! I felt a right nana!! Apart from a sore ankle and knee, no serious injuries were obtained!! It did feel great being clipped in though, you feel a part of the bike.
This is a brightly coloured Waymarker along the cycle/walking path that I thought I would take a photo of. Part of it is a victorian cast iron vent that was built in the late 19th/early 20th century and used to ventilate the sewers. It was rediscovered when the bypass was being built; ivy clad neglected near Power Station Hill. It has now been restored, repainted and transformed with signage, into a giant waymarker along the community route.
The art works on this ventilation pipe were inspired by the Welsh artist Ernest Zobole (1927-1999) and recreated by year 6 pupils at Gwauncelyn Primary School. The children focused on the theme ' Future Transport and the Environment' which encouraged them to engage with modes of transport from the past as well as create imaginative inventions for future sustainable transport.
There endeth the mini history and art lesson!!
