Dead Man's Fingers - Xylaria polymorpha
Took my friend to visit her nephew today. Then we drove out via some scenic areas of the North Eastern area of the Dark Peak to do a reccy for a fungus foray I'm leading on Saturday. We saw some fine fungi, including these splendid Dead Man's Fingers
Don't think my fungi photo made the cut on Autumnwatch Unsprung, but I did get a mention on the competition. I tweeted all the right answers, but got credited with getting one right - the false chanterelle.
