The Fascinating Chinese Game
My father taught us all to play mahjong using an old bamboo and bone set which came in an elaborate inlaid chest. He could score the games from memory while the rest of us had to rely on a well worn printed card that had come with the set.
This little book was published in the early 1920's to introduce a westernised version of the game to the USA. The yellow leaflet behind came with the set I have and appears to have been translated directly from Mandarin into a form of Gibberish. So for scoring I still turn to "Babcock's Rules for Mah-Jongg".
