Winter visitor

The cormorant comes,
Sleek and black on gnarled branches,
To survey his realm.

They come inland in the winter to fish the lakes and rivers. I love to see them perched at the top of old trees, such beautiful shapes. They always make me think of the birds in egyptian hieroglyphics.

I have a bit of a thing about cormorants... there are more cormorant blips here.

Posting this a day late in case you are confused by the blue skies ....
