The Long Walk

Family business meant that I had to go down to Darvel again today and on the way home I stopped off to take this blip. In the distance is the ruin of Loudoun Castle which was destroyed by fire in 1941, I suspect long after it had ceased to be a viable residence. It was built in the early 19th century for the Earls of Loudoun and since it is a Scottish peerage it can and has passed through the female line. The current Earl is an Australian.

A few years ago an amusement park, sort of miniature Alton Towers, was opened but it is now permanently closed.

The avenue of trees always reminds me of the Long Walk at Windsor Castle, hence the title of the blip.
