Against all odds

As well as 31 October being Hallowe'en it is also celebrated in celtic countries as a pagan festival called Samhuinn which marks the end of the harvest season and the start of the dark season of winter. It's a colourful display as the life of the autumn season finally dies and is taken over by the winter period.

The pagan rituals do appeal to me in their simplicity and I am sure when the Beltane Society first ran these 'shows' the ethos was very much in this spirit. It seems, though, that they are instead motivated by control and for the second year running it would appear that the stewards tended to stand in the way of anyone who had a decent camera so the 'Photo-point' official photographers can get the best images of the night and then on-sell to the media.

I think this shall be my last attendance of a Beltane Society event despite getting some good images for the split second when the Stewards moved slightly
