Roeg
It's been a busy week: tonight Beck and I went to a special Halloween showing of 'Don't Look Now' at St. Mary's Church. Part of the Mayhem Festival, it was introduced by a short Q&A with Director Nic Roeg (I'm not going to subject you to a third day running of dodgy 'live' photos so you're not getting the man himself, I'm afraid, but he was great - and visibly excited about showing his film in this setting, which was brilliant.) The surroundings definitely added an extra dimension to what is already a classic movie - I've not seen it for quite a while and had forgotten just how powerful that 'giallo'-style ending is as Donald Sutherland kicks out the window with his twitching death-throes, the orchestra swells and his blood runs down the ancient Venetian wall... (And, if you've not already seen the film, I apologise for the spoiler there!)
Nearly forgot, the last few days retro-styled activities keep reminding me of this song...!)
