Samhain

It is the first Samhain here in this house. It marks entry into the season of the dead. Fitting, as tonight I lost an old friend who will be deeply missed :-(

I hope that it will change in the future, but for now the UK is not a great place to get old and certainly not one in which to get any hint of dementia and thus become a "burden on the NHS". Just because someone's mind no longer functions in the regulated way in which we are accustomed does not mean that they are less of a person. They may not interact in exactly the same way they did before, but it doesn't mean they are not the person you cared about!!!
