The Meeting Place
Following on from the theme of yesterday's Blip, this is the place where I waste too much time. 10.30 a.m. weekdays when I am not working, 3.30 p.m. on Friday afternoons and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sundays will find an eclectic mix of people who have formed strong friendships. Metro Deco is the more sophisticated equivalent of the community hall or local pub. Surprise parties are given for the elderly, and support provided for those who are ill or in trouble. In addition dogs are really welcome and, I have to confess, that we have even been inveigled into bringing our dogs along to a dogs' tea party. This is the quirkier side of life in Kemp Town.
I thought that this community spirit only existed Coronation Street or in an idealised version of the early 20th Century. It is though, alive and thriving in Brighton. Interested to know whether anyone else has a similar meeting place.
