Once the home of Dora Noyce a Scottish brothel keeper ('madam') who operated the premises at No.17 from the end of WWII till her death in 1977. She was charged 47 times of living off immoral earnings. Her last prison sentence of 4 months in '72 caused more complaints when she was in prison than when she was out. When the US aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy was in town she did £4000 of business in one night in the '70's.
