Spaced Out!

I really did think this was 'My Space' but my desk has literally been taken over by Grade 7 assessment sheets, grade 6 text books, copious amounts of Grade 5 homework corrections, kinesthetic models for short vowel 'a' (Grade 1) and no mug of coffee in sight to help the preparation process along!!! There must be an easier way of being a supply teacher!

Its been a real inside day with only a short outing to the balcony to retrieve a cricket ball....twice! The budding Imran Khan's and Sachin Tendulkar's of Karama congregate every afternoon at siesta time, down in our garden area, to flex their muscles, practice their bowling techniques and fine tune their batting prowess. The latter, speaking from experience, needs more than an afternoon to rectify!

Otherwise a very peaceful and relaxing day...silence being shattered only occasionally by firecrackers and rockets heralding the Diwali celebrations. Hopefully they will run out prior to midnight!! or before the police descend, having decided enough is enough. It is illegal to set off firecrackers in residential areas but understandably a difficult one to patrol. The city is vast and a plastic bag full of fireworks with a box of matches left in haste is hardly incriminating evidence. The kids, when discovered, definitely do run faster than the police!

Rounding off the evening with a 'Scary Movie'....quite mindless hilarity..never to be repeated!
