Belgian Delicacies

No trip would complete without saving a few local delicacies, in this case a Brussels Waffle and Carbonnade with Belgian Fries. In the photo you can see what is known as the 'Tourist Waffle'. Waffles were originally invented as a cheap alternative to bread. The Brussels Waffle is served plain with powdered sugar, where as the other traditional Liège Waffle has the sugar included in the batter. The stew pictured is a Flemish Cabonnade, beer based meaty deliciousness served with BELGIAN fries. That's right, Belgian Fries. America proves once again how smart they are. When they were introduced to these by the Belgians they assumed they were French as French is one of the 2 official languages of Belgium and that is what the officers were speaking at the time. Your guide to the world of facts ;)
