Bonfire queen
Like most places, Winchester had its firework display tonight. It's one of the 2 biggest events of the year in this city, organised by the Round Table as their major annual charity fundraiser. It's something my kids grew up on and I still rather miss dishing out the baked potatoes before leaving the house, to keep hands warm and tummies topped up. These days the place is full of burger bars and things to buy, the local radio station plays doubtful music over a c*** PA system (competing with the fireworks). Plus for the first time this year you could only get in by ticket - instead of putting money in a bucket, which we've always done in the past. So maybe next year I'll give it a miss, I don't know.
Still, when the bonfire was finally lit, I was right behind this lovely little girl, who seemed to be orchestrating the action with her light stick. I've put it in mono I don't know why, except that it seemed more human somehow - you notice her mum's face and their interaction, instead of simply being mesmerised by the orange glow.
Enjoy the rest of your evening xx
