Lights... camera....Pankhurst
I don't know how this sneaked up on me but today I was involved in a live broadcast to 2500 people. I hadn't given it much thought in advance but gradually it dawned on me that we were taking questions from the audience which meant anything could happen.
Thankfully I was amongst friends, 7 of us did it. 6 men and me. Just before we began, a man appeared with a powder puff and invited me to do everyone's make up. He seemed to be a nice chap and certainly didn't mean to offend me but he did a little bit. I've worked just as hard as the men and got to the same stage of my career. He didn't ask any of them if they wanted to become a make-up girl. It's a small thing really but still it's quite depressing to think that it's 100 years since the suffragettes made a stand and yet these subliminal biases still exist.
