Saturday: After The Fish

As we are trying to make the most of the weather before it turns too wintery, we have taken a little impromptu trip to Rijeka (pronounced Ree-eck-a) on the coast.  We have driven past a few times and always said how nice it looked so this time we decided to actually make it our destination.

Rijeka was part of Italy until 1945 when it was known as Fiume.  It still feels distinctly Italian in terms of architecture, atmosphere etc.  It's also a working seaport which gives it a distinctly gritty feel.  

Anyway, we have explored thoroughly, including this fish market just as it was closing.  It's incredibly mild still, nice enough to sit outside.
