The Spacious Firmament on High

Rannoch Moor in the sunshine.
There was snow too, but you can barely see it in the distance. The other side of the road was better, on the north facing slopes, but I couldn't resist this tree and its rock.

The spacious firmament on high,
With all the blue ethereal sky,
And spangled heavens, a shining frame
Their great Original proclaim.
Th’unwearied sun, from day to day,
Does his Creator’s powers display,
And publishes to every land
The work of an Almighty Hand

Joseph Addison (1672-1719)

"Our imagination loves to be filled with an object, or to grasp at anything that is too big for its capacity. We are flung into a pleasing astonishment at such unbounded views, and feel a delightful stillness and amazement in the soul at the apprehension of them."

Joseph Addison (1672-1719)
