Reiver country.

We took our life in our hands and visited the Scottish Borders today! ( Reivers' country )

Hermitage Castle, near Newcastleton, was the guardhouse of the bloodiest valley in Britain! The castle is really remote. ( worth googling! )

Mary Queen of Scots set off from Jedburgh across bleak moorland to be with Bothwell who was resident at Hermitage Castle. After a 2 hour tryst she returned to Jedburgh, but her horse stumbled into a bog and she caught a severe fever! She and Bothwell were married 7 months later...
