Southerly front from Cass

This is view from Cass (permanent population 1), looking back towards the Waimakariri Gorge. That's a good looking Southerly front back home (but not where I am :-)

Large is brooding

The high country fishing season opens at mid night tonight. Not that I'll be poking around then. We're staying in one of the anglers clubs huts/baches. We're 10-25mins away from a number of lakes and rivers that can be fished.

The Cass hut is very cute, built in the early 19th century and full of character and kiwiana without trying.

I'm sleeping in the outside room, 5 steps from the back door. It is an old original rail carriage, all tongue and groove inside with a curved roof. I can see where it once had a burner and chimney too. It's very cute.

The plan for tomorrow is Lake Pearson. It's hard to know how things will go because as we drove past Lakes Lyndon, Pearson and Grassmere this afternoon, we all remarked we've never seen them so high (or dirty in the case of Pearson and Grassmere).
