remember, remember...

...the 5th of November. That strange time of year when us English celebrate the failure of a plot to blow up the House of Lords in 160something. An effigy of the main protagonist, Guy Fawkes, burnt on a bonfire.
It's the first 'Guy Fawkes Night' we've been to on US soil - a chill in the night, woodsmoke in the hair. It was great.
Not sure what Em made of it. She noticed there was a 'scarecrow' on top of the fire. When told we were going to burn it she retorted "I'm not sure that's a good idea".
