18 mile training walk
Today we packed our lunch and headed out on an 18 mile training walk. Tiring of the Water of Leith, I found us a nice route out into the countryside, past some reservoirs and back home. I checked it on google maps, there seemed to be a small country track, that should be just perfect for walking on.
As we hit Bonaly I saw our first problem, a massive hill, right where our path should take us. Oh well, we'd come this far, we weren't going to let a bit of mountaineering stop us. As we climbed the hill we met the sheep in this photo. Past Bonaly reservoir (shame you're not allowed to swim in this one as it looked lovely!), then came the next problem. We appeared to have run out of track and were about to enter army training land. Oh well, that would be fine. The Pentland Hills are made of peat and as such were a huge bog. I got my feet wet on several occassions, G remained dry. When I could finally see Harlaw coming into sight I was so relieved that I hadn't got lost.
Lunch sat on a wall (loudly tutted at by a passerby) and then onwards towards home.
