Flowers that Pat brought

Pat & Helen came to see me today and Pat brought these a lovely flowers. Does anyone know the name of this flower? The leaves look like a cabbage and it has a thick stem.
Pat took us out for lunch to an Italian restaurant (La Vigna) and it was lovely.
