Completed Bra

Completed marathon bra just in time to head out to our plane to London.

We had to run to catch the bus to the airport but had plenty of time to spare once we got there. I didn’t set off the metal detector and the googly eyes on our bras didn’t attract any attention in the bag scanner. Lovely cooked breakfast with the added amusement of the tiny little “safety cutlery”, knives with just 4cm blades so the worst you can do is steal them and attempt to butter someone to death on the plane. We had 45 minutes sat on the plane waiting to be allowed to take off due to wind in London.

When we got to London it was an easy transfer on the tube to Euston to meet our lovely friend Stephen. He snuck up on us at the station in the way only a giant imposing man can do. After a nice coffee (well tea for me) we had a slightly more stressful journey towards Clapham through rush hour. I’d managed to get us a hotel in the battersea area but it was a 2.5 mile wander from the tube station. We probably could have got a bus but London buses confuse me.

My heart sank on entering the hotel. It seemed shabby, there were some rather imposing looking gentlemen in the very small foyer and I began to wonder what I’d booked us into. On getting to the room that worry was confirmed. A whole host of issues with the room ranging from broken windows, broken taps, frayed carpets and lino and general worn look and feel. That’s without the fact the bath is probably only big enough for a child to enjoy, which as it later turned out, didn’t even have a plug to keep the water in. Unfortunately they’re fully booked so couldn’t change the room for us but the manager will speak to me tomorrow.

When my rage calmed down a bit we headed out to find somewhere to eat. It was looking like we might need to settle for a Pizza Express when we decided to pop into a very nice looking Moroccan place called Doukan to ask if I could eat there (with my dairy and citrus intolerances). We were in luck, there were a number of options. We had a delicious meal, shared tasty little spiced chicken pie things for starters and then lamb and chicken for main, nice wine, fantastic service and a great night. It almost made up for the hotel, thankfully we’ll only actually be sleeping here one of the two nights.

Hopefully we’ll get a nice lie in tomorrow.
