Leaving
Our week on the Isle of May is over.
The lighthouse you can see at the bottom of this image is the Bird Observatory and has been home for the last week. An enjoyable visit with good company although a little short of birds - perhaps not surprising given the time of year.
Colin the boatman arrived at 9:00 am using a shortish window of weather opportunity. Getting on and off the rib was easier that Tricia had feared it might be.
After that the veracity of Red sky in the morning, Shepherds' warning took over and our tour of East Neuk became a battle against the wind and rain. Crail and St Andrew's were both interesting places although it felt odd moving back into the mainstream of life. A controversial sausage roll from Greggs did not help the temperature.
Ever odder was an afternoon trip to Ikea in Edinburgh. A wet Sunday in Winter and not surprisingly it was packed. Going from an island where you know everyone's name to this was never going to be ideal.
In principle I like the idea of going to Ikea. They do have some good stuff. However after about an hour I get furniture fatigue and need to get out. One thing I am sure is that our Ikea visit will provide endless un flat-packing fun back at Gearradubh.
A night in a civilised B&B following a curry - the first since France - in Stirling ended the day.
