Pileated Woodpecker
The Pileated woodpecker is one of the biggest, most striking forest birds on the continent. Almost as big as a crow. with bold white stripes down the neck, and a flaming red crest.
It was that flash of red that first caught my attention. I was out trying to find an eagle again, but instead, found this beautiful woodpecker. He was making a lot of noise, flying from one tree to another looking for bugs.
Love nature!
