Work of art

This is a wet weather blip. I had intended going for a walk as finished at the charity shop early. Called in for a coffee with a friend on the way home and then found the heavens had opened!
This sampler was bought by my late father in law many years ago and I found it rolled up in a drawer because he had used the original frame for a picture of a grandchild.
I have been advised that this is a typical 'orphanage' sampler and each orphanage used their own colour. I was told that this would have come from Birmingham and I am in awe of the fine stictches on closely woven linen. My apologies for a fuzzy picture, but it was the best of the bunch!
