Afternoon Tea

Our afternoon tea fundraiser is this Saturday and I seem to have spent a large portion of the day either talking about it or doing something for it.
We want to use nice china, proper cups and saucers and cake stands to make it feel a little bit special. A lovely old lady from the village has kindly lent us three tea sets and I popped along to get them today. She is really looking forward to coming along and has been promoting it to all her friends too: what a star!

We require lots of baking of course and a little start was made today with a big fruit gingerbread; the rest will be made on Friday and Saturday morning so it's nice and fresh.
I thought I'd share our planned menu to see what you think :-

Complimentary glass of fizz or sherry
Homemade soup
Selection of freshly made sandwiches
A cake stand of cakes - fruit cake, cream scones, meringues, chocolate cakes, decorated muffins, cream pancakes & lemon cake.
Pot of tea or filter coffee.

A little banana and chocolate chip loaf and an iced gingerbread made for my hungry boys too!
