56: The Stag's Head
... Wellesbourne. Just love the look of this pub - very old.
This is what I found on the internet regarding its history:
Dating back to the year 1640, The Stag’s Head is a Grade II listed building adorned atop by its traditional thatched roof and retaining many original features including its visible classic timber frame and flagstone floors.
The pub was founded in 1830 and was the original meeting place for Joseph Arch (founder of the Trade Union Movement).
The pub walls are adorned with framed pictures of both past and present, with a history lesson of the pub, the village and the people of Wellesbourne.
Never been in but sometimes choose this route home.
