Rob and Lau

Rob van Houwelingen and Lau Veth have known each other ever since they were kids. They grew up and went to school together in the same neighborhood in Rotterdam, de Afrikaanderwijk.
They still work together: both are self-employed in the construction industry. I met them today near the river Maas where they were renovating apartments in an old building. I was looking for a location to shoot a portrait near the river and they were so kind to be a stand-in so I could setup and test my lights before my model arrived. And of course in a picture like this, of two authentic Rotterdam guys, I had to include their mixing tub...
