Rare spots

Levenhall Links this afternoon, though the light was a bit bad.
Saw quite a few migrants, some of which were quite rare for Lothian.

The Whooper Swan was lovely, as were the Slavonian Grebes, diving amongst the Velvet scoter.

There were 11 barnacle geese, which are more common in the south west of Scotland, but I was particularly pleased with these Greenland Whitefronted Geese (Anser albifrons flavirostris, though some authorities reckon they are a species, A. flavirostris). Most of the world population overwinters in Ireland and Jura/Islay/Kintyre in Scotland, so it was a pleasure to see them on the East Coast.
