Lest we forget

They were all out today. Big hats and big cheeses. Police, military, politicians, ambassadors, bodyguards and of course veterans. Uniforms galore. The flags were out. Tanks were stationed on Khreschatik for a military parade.

The red carpet was rolled out at Palats Ukraina for some kind of memorial concert as I made my way to work.

It's 7o years since Kyiv was liberated from the Nazis.

Some say, as this anniversary has not been seriously marked before, that this is a political ploy. Apparently, the day was made a holiday for Kyiv businesses. However, unfortunately, this wasn't recognised by the British Council.
