Remember Remember some time in November
I do like a good tradition and I like celebrating occasions and events, basically just because I think it makes day to day life more interesting and probably because there is usually cake involved! .
For a few years now we've had two traditions relating to Guy Faulkes day. Firstly, we have some fireworks with some pals. When our kids were very little Shelly and I would stick sparklers in the ground and light them and get the children to watch from a distance, or from the safety of their buggies. As they have gotten older we have progressed to more exciting fireworks and they get to hold sparklers. This tradition is very rarely celebrated actually on the 5th, for various reasons and this year is no different. This year we will be lighting 40 sparklers (thanks to a brownies mix up), and perhaps some other small fireworks and eating toffee apples tomorrow night.
The other annual bonfire night tradition is eating bonfire bangers and mash followed by bonfire fruit salad and firework cake. Yesterday there were just one too many after school activities going on, so tonight was the night for that tasty menu.
A cracking tradition to keep, even if the folks we shared it with were different.
Miss you Americans x (We added in blueberry 'dark sky night' juice too this year. Tasty!)
