Fire Helicopter

Elvis is the nickname of Erickson S-64 Air-Crane N179AC which has gained fame in Australia as a highly visible and valuable tool in bushfire suppression. The helicopter, which can hold 9,500 litres of water or foam mix was first used in Australia in 2001-2002 fire season, in Victoria.

Now today in NSW for the 2013-14 season we have two. "Gypsy Lady" (N189AC) and "Ichabod" (N957AC). I can not tell which one this is.

Today's temps in Western Sydney were in the low 30's. Tomorrow the forecast is higher. Sadly it is known that this Helicopter, and others, will be doing a lot of flying tomorrow. I just wish they could stay on the ground. This would mean there are no fires.

To all who fly and support these beasts, thank you and stay safe.
To all on the ground, likewise.
