Spot the tourist
Today has been much easier with a guess of 20 km covered before finishing lunchtime.
Our route this morning took us back to temples we had seen over the last few days and to one new temple that I would have loved to have spent hours at.
Weather has turned wet and grey which meant we cycled in the rain at times but given the heat no one minded a bit.
The one dollar opportunity arose once more but had escalated to 3, 5, 2 and 8 dollar. This loosely translates into my buying a scarf, book, braids and three scarfs and two fridge magnets from the sellers who surround you when you arrive at a temple asking you , "you buy from me? I sell you for one dollar" inserting item description and price accordingly. They are very persistent and will often follow potential clients for some time before letting go. All with tales of family and education.
Today's blip is of a large tree that has got its roots well into the structure of the temple building. Many temples were over run with trees like this but most sites we are told have now been cleared. The trees at perhaps some 400 years of age are still considered to be young and dispensable when the temple it's destroying is 1400 years old.
Tomorrow we leave for a 6 hour boat trip to our new base and belief this may be my last blip for sometime.
