Alpen-glowing Sunrise

See the clouds hanging in the cliffs of the Dents du Midi with its new mantle of snow.

It didn't get better than this all day, despite going for a wonderful walk in the snow later with naturalist, Eugene, at the age of 75, still very sprightly in the mountains. We did not mean to disturb 6 rock partridges (alectoris graeca) when looking for chamoix. Eugene was well pleased, it is 15 years since he has seen any of these birds. We shall go back in the spring to hear them sing.
