Falls of Clyde
Met friends for lunch at a Clydeside Garden Centre (of which there are many). After lunch I decided to head for Lanark (to do some shopping for contents of Christmas shoe boxes) and then on to New Lanark. It's a while since I have been to the centre or to walk along to the Falls of Clyde. The water is high just now giving a great display - just sorry there was no sun or blue skies.
New Lanark is a World Heritage Site. Robert Owen built the mills & surrounding village for employees & their families. He was a social reformer who was working to improve conditions for workers including moving away from child labour & providing education for children.
He said "Every child of man should be, from his birth, as well trained and educated, as his original organs, faculties and powers will admit"
