Soaring

I just nipped out to the dustbin this morning and I saw a couple of these birds soaring back and forth over the surrounding gardens. The camera was just inside the door, so I grabbed it and was rewarded with a low pass over my garden. I'm not sure what type it is (some kind of gull would be my guess) but I would love to know what it is if anyone out there recognises it.

The day started lovely and sunny and I was lulled into thinking it might last, so I made a quiche for tea thinking that I would go for a walk afterwards. Yes, you've guessed it - just as I finished it rapidly greyed over and the heavens opened, so no walk for me today, so I cheered myself up with quiche for lunch instead :-)
