Janet Rome Hetherington

Chloe didn't do too well for walks, so on the way back from a quick shop in Carlisle we stopped off in the cemetery for a walk. Chloe obligingly posed by this autumnal tree. To her left is a tomb stone for Janet Rome Hetherington and I wondered about her middle name. I believe Florence Nightingale was called Florence because she was born there so perhaps Janet was born in Rome or mother's maiden name (my middle name is Hamilton). Is Rome ever a surname?
