Saturday: Illuminated Chinese Picture

I believe that this may be the beginning of a series entitled 'Lazy Wintery Blips 'Things From Around The House' so here you have an illuminated wall of the dining area (I say area because the living room and dining room are open plan - no doubt I'll show you a lazy blip of that before too long!).  The picture was given to me and K. as a farewell gift by a friend when we left Beijing and is just one of many Chinese-themed items around the house.

As you can guess from this picture, we aren't going far today.....our late night last night has made us somewhat relaxed.

--------------------------------------------------

A couple of flights this week has made for some good reading time and I have just finished 'Granta 80: The Group' which was as excellent as Granta usually is.  I know some people feel that they don't publish enough women authors - I can't really get too upset about that.  I love the writing in it, be it by a male or female author.  This particular issue was about photographs and how much they can show us what we have lost.............the best piece showed a picture of young white South Africans at a party in 1962 - virtually every one of them, young and smiling in the photo, ended up in prison, assassinated, expelled due to their political activities.  'Used To Be Great Friends' by C J Driver - well worth reading.

Anyway, I hadn't intended to get so involved in that.....I can hear that K. is eating something.  I am going to investigate!
