Bandon angel
On the search for walking boots that fit properly, I made a trip to Bandon ('Droichead na Bandan' - The Bandon Bridge') where I remembered there is an excellent outdoor shop - 'Wild Side Sports' - run by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable young couple. It was worth the trip and I now have a fine new pair of Meindl boots.
Not being too familiar with Bandon, I went in search of blipable places. It's an old town on a strategic river crossing and was traditionally a Protestant stronghold. It is dominated by two huge churches - Protestant and Catholic, vying for domination above the shops and houses huddled around the bridge and cascading river.
The image is a figure on the steps up to the Catholic church. The angel and her companion opposite, had been adorned with fading flowers and this one had a rather disturbing expression. If you look closely you may be able to see the huge tear-drop falling from her chin.
