On a cold and frosty morning

Cold and a bit frosty today as I poked a toe out of bed. I didn't want to get out of the cozy warm covers. Cousteau's soft snores reached my straining ears. Another ten minutes then. He's happy.

The alarm screeched for the I don't know how many-eth time.

Probably should get up.

Stumbled blindly to the bathroom, eyes still squeezed shut. Trying to hold on to the last vestiges of sleep.

The warm water of the shower hits my face. Shampoo, soap. A waggy tail from the doorway greeting me this fine morning.

Always happy to see me. Staying just far enough away in case I decide he needs a wash too.

No thanks. I'll stay stinky.

Warm clothes wrap themselves around my still damp form.

Cup of tea.

Dog fed.

Off to work via a frosty stroll in the park.

An okay day. Still wrapped in sommeil. Bed beckoned early.

Fell asleep praying Rosary. Cousteau long gone to the world of dreams. Twitching and mewling in his slumber.

Awakeness an unwelcome interlude.
