They were sitting around a picnic table in the warm sun drinking vodka, beer and water. Friendly, talkative, curious and willing to be photographed. After awhile, each of them threw in a buck so that they could get another bottle. They didn't ask me to contribute but I did.

They said they represented 4 different Indian tribes - one from Mexico and the others American. One of them was their elder spokesman. It was important to them that I would represent them respectfully.

Down the road, a totally different celebration - a sweet sixteen coming out event.
