The now-defunct tumble dryer isn't an attempt to turn the garden into a rag-and-bone-man's yard: it's waiting for the delivery van bringing the new one and taking it away.

Said delivery van didn't turn up yesterday, as promised - which is just the latest problem with what's been a disappointing purchase. When internet shopping is rubbish, it's really rubbish.
