Little Grebe with Fish

The last day of our time away in Wendover with friends and it dawned bright and sunny. Just before we left to come home we took a walk down to the canal hoping to spot the kingfisher that had been seen a few days before. Sure enough we did see it as it flew off ahead of us and over the bushes that flank the canal. That was the last we saw of it - just a flash of blue.

But we did see this little grebe catch a fish and then play with it for a while. I assume it was killing it in order to turn it round and eat. Not the clearest of pictures, but it did bring to a nice end some great times with friends, even though the weather was 'wetter than desired'!
